Bluejay VolleyLab is a skill-development training program built for athletes who want to train competitively, build confidence, and improve volleyball IQ. Sessions are intentionally designed to provide high-rep, skill-focused training in a structured, supportive environment.
VolleyLab bridges the gap between team practices and game performance β helping athletes translate reps into results.
1 Hour Sessions from 1-4pm on posted Sundays

Hour 1: Setting & OOS Lab
1:00-2:00pm
Best for:
- Setters
- Liberos
- Defensive Specialists
Other positions that benefit:
Out-of-system (OOS) balls donβt belong to one position. Every player must be prepared to handle second contact in match play.
- Middles build confidence using their hands when the setter is unavailable
- Pins prepare to set from the back row using hands or platform
Focus areas include:
- Setting technique & footwork
- Decision-making in OOS situations
- Communication & volleyball IQ
- Game-like reps under pressure

Hour 2: Serve & Pass Lab
2:00-3:00pm
Best for:
- Liberos
- Defensive Specialists (DSs)
- Pin hitters
Other positions that benefit:
- Setters often start matches serving and set the tone early
- Serving is the only fully controllable skill in volleyball
- Strong serve receive is the foundation of every offense
Focus areas include:
- Consistent, aggressive serving
- Serve-receive footwork & platform control
- Reading servers and ball flight
- Competitive, high-rep drills
π‘ This lab focuses on consistency, confidence, and point-scoring pressure.
Hour 3: Attack & Defense Lab
3:00-4:00pm
Best for:
- Pin hitters
- Middles
- Liberos
- Defensive Specialists
Other positions that benefit:
- Teams often attack Zone 1 to take the setter out of the play β setters must be confident defenders
- Every player should be able to put a competitive attack over the net, even from the back row
- Free balls should be an emergency move, not a default option
Focus areas include:
- Attacking mechanics & shot selection
- Defensive positioning & reads
- Transition from defense to offense
- Competitive, game-like rallies

BVL 2026
Bluejay VolleyLab offers skill-focused, high-rep training designed to build confident, competitive volleyball players. Each hour targets a specific skill area and is broken into age-based groups to maximize development and game-like reps. Athletes may register for individual labs or multiple hours based on their training goals.
